Philippe Pernod was born in Paris (Saint-Mandé), France, in 1962. He received the Engineering Degree from Institut Industriel du Nord in 1986, the Master degree in Electronics applied to ultrasound and imaging in 1986, the Ph. D. degree in Electronics in 1989, and the Doctorat ès-Sciences (HDR) degree from University of Valenciennes in 1996. Associate Professor from 1989 to 1996, he is currently Full Professor in the Departement of Electrical Engineering of Ecole Centrale de Lille, and Head of the AIMAN-FILMS research group of Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, UMR CNRS 8520). From 2004 to present, he is also Head on the french side of the Joint International Associated Laboratory LIA LICS/LEMAC (International Laboratory of Critical and Supercritical phenomena in functional electronics, acoustics and fluidics), and from 2014 the Director of Research of Centrale Lille.

He is the author of more than 110 articles and 8 prioritary patents and was the principal investigator of a large number of international and national projects and contracts. He received several honours and awards among which the Professor Honoris Causa from the Moscow State University of Radio-Engineering, Electronics and Automation (MIREA - Technical University), a mention for «Scientific contribution in the development of sciences» from the Ministry of Sciences and Education of the autonomous republic of Crimea, a MBDA innovation Prize, and several others. He is an associate editor of the journals Physics of Wave Phenomena and Nanomaterials and Nanostructures.

His research interests are focused on Nonlinear magnetoacoustics of condensed matter, and Critical and Supercritical phenomena in Functional electronics, Acoustics and Fluidics.
